We have a super exciting Wednesday coming up
This Wednesday August 1st, at 4pm, Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul and Mary, will be here to launch his new picture book, It’s Raining, It’s Pouring, an illustrated version of the perennially loved children’s song.
After the launch, he’ll lead a sing-along featuring more favored classics, probably including, but not limited to:
"Puff the Magic Dragon" (you remember this 2007 picture book, of course)
"If I Had a Hammer"
"This Land is Your Land"
"All Through the Night"
Etcetera and so forth: other favorites from Sleepytime Songs.
And then — and then! — (as this is the first Wednesday of the month) we’ll have our much-anticipated puppet show. This month’s story is “The Princess and the Pea”, featuring probably the most complex (and artful) (Tony-eligible, even) paper bag puppets you’ve ever seen. Will Princess Penelope convince the prince and his skeptical mother that she’s a real princess? We don’t want to spoil the ending, but someone learns a valuable lesson. As these things go.
Our featured picture book this month is The Very Smart Pea and the Princess-to-Be by Mini Grey.
See you this Wednesday (don’t forget the kids).
