Thank you so much to our Saturday Storytime host, Yvonne Brooks, for these beautiful pictures of our last puppet show, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”!

Our next puppet show will be Dec 5th, with an original production of “Snow White”. Stick around the for the sing-along afterward! Our featured book is Snow White by Jane Ray.

Check it out! Our “Jack and the Beanstalk” shadow puppet show is on YouTube!

We have a super exciting Wednesday coming up
This Wednesday August 1st, at 4pm, Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul and Mary, will be here to launch his new picture book, It’s Raining, It’s Pouring, an illustrated version of the perennially loved children’s song.
After the launch, he’ll lead a sing-along featuring more favored classics, probably including, but not limited to:
"Puff the Magic Dragon" (you remember this 2007 picture book, of course)
"If I Had a Hammer"
"This Land is Your Land"
"All Through the Night"
Etcetera and so forth: other favorites from Sleepytime Songs.
And then — and then! — (as this is the first Wednesday of the month) we’ll have our much-anticipated puppet show. This month’s story is “The Princess and the Pea”, featuring probably the most complex (and artful) (Tony-eligible, even) paper bag puppets you’ve ever seen. Will Princess Penelope convince the prince and his skeptical mother that she’s a real princess? We don’t want to spoil the ending, but someone learns a valuable lesson. As these things go.
Our featured picture book this month is The Very Smart Pea and the Princess-to-Be by Mini Grey.
See you this Wednesday (don’t forget the kids).

Our monthly puppet show was yesterday, with a modern rendition of “Rapunzel”.

August 1st at 4:30, we’ll perform a paper bag puppet rendition of “The Princess and the Pea”, with a sing-along afterward.

And September 5th at 4:30, for our performance of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”, our Saturday Storytime host, Yvonne Brooks, is bringing a real goat for a meet-and-greet after the sing-along. Bring your cameras!

Some images from our last puppet show, “The Tortoise and the Hare”. Our next show will be “Rapunzel” on July 11th, with traditional hand puppets. I’m really excited to start sewing.

This month’s shadow puppet production of “Jack and the Beanstalk” / singalong was just wonderful.

Next month’s shadow puppet “The Tortoise and the Hare” promises to be even more wonderful (we have a secret plan for this one, and it’s just great).

June 6th at 4:30, downstairs at McNally Jackson. Our featured book is The Tortoise or the Hare by Toni Morrison.

PUPPET SHOW!

Today’s “Three Little Pigs” performance was a smash hit!

Our next puppet show takes place in the history section May 2nd at 4:30. It will be based on our featured book, Jack and the Beanstalk by John Cech.

Meet the cast of our recent production of “Little Red Riding Hood”!

Our next puppet show takes place on April 4th at 4:30pm with an original production of “The Three Little Pigs”. Our featured book this month is The Three Little Pigs by Paul Galdone.

On the first Wednesday of every month, McNally Jackson performs a free puppet show, for children of all ages, based on a classic story. Bring a blanket and popcorn, and join us downstairs. Parents welcome.

Our first puppet show was a great success! Except the popcorn, but what do a few greasy books matter when we’re having this much fun? The featured book this month was Mouse and Lion by Rand Burkert and Nancy Eckholm Burkert.

Next month, Little Red will stray from the straight and narrow on her way to Grandmother’s house, with puppets sewn by the teenage Crafternoon-ers at the Mulberry Street Library. Our featured book is Little Red Riding Hood by Jerry Pinkney.

Please join us March 7th at 4:00 in the children’s section.
